We are finishing up our project to build our dream home. In retrospect, I can’t imagine undertaking the project with another general contractor.
McNamee Construction was recommended to us along with some other contractors by John Matthams. From the start we have been able to communicate perfectly. Your attention to detail is remarkable--you catch things that even I don’t see.
The paperwork has been excellent, and your subs have all been wonderful to work with. It is hard to determine the price to value in our home. It is such a unique place. We changed things many times, and virtually every single thing our home is built of and made from is of the highest quality, and more often than not, unique.
So I guess we could say that we got exactly what we dreamed of. All the time, effort and, of course, money is worth it. And I would (and have already) recommended you to friends.
Feel free to show our home to your potential clients. And if any of them would like to talk with me, they are free to call.

Our 1950 two story, floor to ceiling glass house was designed in the Modern style. Because we were committed to maintaining the Modern architectural style throughout this renovation, it was all custom work. The first contractor we contacted was out of the ballpark on our budget.
When we contacted Noel, he was able to make a few cost-cutting, innovative suggestions, all of which were completely consistent with the tight Modern architectural lines. Noel was as committed as we were to maintaining the integrity of the architecture and he built it within budget, on time and at very high quality—we were amazed and very happy with the result. As an engineer and now an attorney who works for a large heavy construction contractor, I had high expectations and Noel met them all.

The Carl Cherry Center for the Arts
The Carl Cherry Center for the Arts has worked with McNamee Construction on several projects, the largest of which was an extensive renovation to our nearly 100-year-old building. Over the years these projects have varied in scope and requirements. Their standard is to get it right the first time and establish that same benchmark standard for their subcontractors. Noel McNamee’s professionalism, expertise, ethics and team approach on a project make the journey a more pleasant experience and help ensure success for others associated with the job.
On all projects McNamee has demonstrated its ability to complete the job with professionalism through the typical adversities of general contracting. McNamee’s staff was always cooperative while maintaining order and professionalism throughout the project. I particularly appreciate the working relationship our firm has had with McNamee’s staff. We have enjoyed the ability to communicate revisions to them and they are very helpful working out complex construction details.
The professionalism, leadership, and expertise they displayed during each phase of the project made the transition faster and easier than we ever expected.
Thanks to them and their team, we would gladly recommend McNamee to other local businesses with similar projects.Louise Slagel

I was referred to McNamee Construction after a remodeling disaster sent me in search of both an “honest attorney” and “at honest contractor.” You may be thinking that’s a double oxymoron, but in this particular case I ended up lucky on both counts.
Noel McNamee arrived at my home within 48 hours of my original call. He assessed the situation, laid out my options, and assured me he could correct the problems. His confidence left me with no doubt this nightmare would be over soon. He also informed me that I had paid twice what I should have. That was not something I wanted to hear, but I appreciated his integrity. I was given a list of decisions I needed to make, and Mr. McNamee assured me he would be able to start my job in a few weeks.
This contractor did come back, as promised.
Noel was able to show me other projects that had features I might want to incorporate into my remodel. He had ideas to share, rather than just “we can do anything you want.” In a matter of a few weeks, I had met with numerous subcontractors and we had a start date for my project.
When my project began, there were multiple subcontractors involved and there was not a single “no show.” I had an extended business trip scheduled to begin the next day. I did not cancel even though I had some reservations about leaving all these workers in my home. When I arrived home ten days later, I was delighted to find all the work I had been waiting months for completed and a very clean work-site. I mailed Noel McNamee a simple message expressing my personal thoughts when I saw what had been accomplished—“Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.” Thank you!
Everyone associated with my project—both subcontractors and McNamee employees—have been professional, courteous, and committed to creating rooms that I will enjoy for years to come. My home is very small compared to some of the other McNamee Construction projects. I do believe, however, that everyone receives the same personal attention and commitment to quality. I have now extended my remodel plans to include other areas of the house. That is quite a leap of faith for someone who was looking for “an honest attorney” just short time ago.

We own a Carmel Cottage, which prior to our project had not been modernized. The original knob and tube wiring was still in use, for instance. We wanted to modernize, remodel and expand the home. We hired a local architect to prepare plans and assist in obtaining permits. The City of Carmel determined that the home would be subject to historic design controls, limiting the scope of what we could do to the house and would require the construction contractor to adhere closely to permit requirements. A further challenge was we were living in South Carolina, requiring a responsive and trustworthy contractor who would get the job done with minimal owner supervision. McNamee Construction proved to be such a contractor.
Results: We selected McNamee based on recommendations of the Architect and on his bid price vs. other contractors. We checked provided references and looked at his work on prior projects. Our choice proved to be wise.
In short, we obtained a quality job, on budget. There were no problems with the City inspectors. Noel McNamee’s crews did a superb job in matching existing building materials, dimensions and character. The contractor properly supervised his subcontractors. We allowed a liberal time schedule to control costs since we did not have an urgent need to move into the house. Close coordination with the contractor on design elements, owner desired outcomes (written into the contract) resulted in minimal cost growth—which is a significant accomplishment for a rehabilitation type project.
We have now lived in our “new” home for about one year. Noel McNamee and his crew have been very responsive in dealing with minor items that needed to be addressed. Noel always made things right. We would offer Noel and McNamee Construction our next project.
